Instruction Mode
Give Observer role, goals, and PDFs before the meeting starts.
Instruction Mode lets you preset context Observer should remember for a meeting — your role, the meeting goal, terminology, or reference documents.
What you can add
- Custom written instructions for how Observer should answer
- PDF attachments Observer can reference during the meeting
- A meeting notes template that shapes how notes are generated after the session
- Separate instruction presets for different meeting types
Meeting notes template
Each instruction can include a notes template with section headings and descriptions — for example, a heading like Key decisions with a short description of what belongs in that section. When the meeting ends, Observer generates notes following that structure.
Add or edit the template in Instruction Mode on any custom instruction preset, alongside your real-time prompt and PDF attachments.
When Observer uses it
Instructions are attached when you start a meeting with that preset active. The real-time prompt, PDF summary, and chat history flow into AI requests on every action — especially Power Mode (), which combines instructions with transcript and screen context.
How to set it up
1. Open Instruction Mode in the Observer dashboard before your call.
2. Write clear instructions (tone, format, role, constraints).
3. Attach PDFs if the meeting depends on reference material.
4. Optionally add a meeting notes template with section headings and descriptions.
5. Select the instruction preset when you start Observer.
Tips for better results
- State your role and what kind of answers you want (brief, technical, conversational).
- Mention the meeting type (sales call, interview, standup) if it changes how Observer should respond.
- Keep each PDF focused — large unrelated documents can dilute answers.
- Use notes template section descriptions to tell Observer exactly what each part of your meeting notes should cover.
